Traveling In A Lightweight Trailer
Recently my wife and I decided it was time to hit the road again. We had traveled extensively in the past but now that we were retired, we decided to look into lightweight travel trailers and spend a longer time touring the United States. While touring the country in the past, we had made many friends who owned their travel trailers and were very familiar with the many brands. I consulted with a few of them and of course they all had different ideas on what type of trailer to buy and which specific company to buy from. I was amazed at how the industry had changed over the years and at all the great new trailers being offered at some great prices. The trailers ranged from the pop-up type to the luxurious motor coaches. It was going to be a hard decision to make with all these options. Our original travel trailer had been a fifth wheel so we naturally gravitated toward that type first.
We found a great little 19′ Scamp fifth wheel, which is one of the best lightweight travel trailers and can be towed by both cars and trucks. It is made of fiberglass and has a sleek design that also makes it very fuel efficient. This particular brand is extremely well made and insulated, making it comfortable even in bad weather. Though small, it includes everything you need for a truly pleasant journey. Almost all the Scamps are custom made so you can make it your own “home away from home” on the road.
Being seasoned travelers and having visited many of the different campgrounds, we had seen all makes of trailers. There is a specific trailer that has been around for years and its users are loyal buyers when trading them in. They are an elite group of people who love their Airstream. We located a dealer in our area and looked them over carefully. They are the top of the line in the trailer industry when it comes to the make, style, strength, durability, and reliability. It’s easy to see this company’s good reputation and quality products since there are many Airstreams still on the road, both old and new. They are lightweight and fully equipped with all the conveniences you will require.
Ultimately, we decided on an Airstream and we’re truly happy with our decision. Light weight trailers are one of the best investments me and my family ever made where traveling is concerned!
